Flowers in July

Living in London often means I am without a garden, so to temper my hankering for the great outdoors a small vase of flowers in the window gives me a small sense of the country home I grew up in and the little city garden space I wish I had. Understandably when I find a nice cheap bunch of flowers filled with scent I make the best of enjoying them while they are in season.

"Stocks are a fantastic British summer flower - their perfume is just delicious and the range of colours makes them so easy to use for all sorts of jobs," Ruari McCulloch of Pinstripes & Peonies.
