A delightful build up to the festive season, Christmas shopping on the eve of the eve, one stop to Liberty's I think it's necessary to start all that spending off right so a little something for me before I start thinking about the rest of the family, then a quick cab ride down to Sloane Square to do some last minute decoration shopping and a short walk to the other side of King's road to buy a little something for me at Anthropologie, then flag a black cab down to take me over the river and home. I never realised how much easier Christmas shopping in London was when you travel by cab, I think I might make it a tradition, merry Christmas, happy holidays and all that jazz.

finished at the studio and contemplating what to do next, try to finish the samples for hand over this week or wait till next week finish them slow and properly, if i have to go to hush on tuesday then i don't really have time to finish but the sooner i get them in store the sooner i start to make money and as I'm gonna loose the warehouse job soon I need to get money in.

Documenting my sketchbooks is such a boring task but it has to be done so that when I'm working from home and can refer to past concepts details and construction, in the end it saves me having to carry all my sketch books home when I'm designing. funny how when I first got my macbook it was so convenient, now all i keep thinking if i had an ipad my bag would be so much lighter.

Inspired by a passion for textiles and blending traditional craft with a modern aesthetic, csevenm has developed a charming selection of hand made soft interiors and detailed fashion pieces to adorn your home and wardrobe.  

Interiors with a delicate mixture of white on white prints, randomly pieced together, to make patchwork blankets. Silk patch sheets with hand block printing, in soft silver and pearl white, and a variety of cotton and silk cushion cases available on request to compliment the bedding.

Pour les enfant the little collection range consists of printed cushions in classic children’s colours and unique patchwork baby blankets with signature white on white prints. Each item is finished with a delightful hand stitched animal character.  

csevenm’s visually distinct collection of design essentials, including the limited edition clothing label ‘crâne’, are all developed through a process of manipulating old and new while refining hand stitched intricacies into the fine details of design.

Where do you live? Feeling and sensations living there.

Until a short while ago I lived in one of the Home Counties, but recently moved back to London. 

I do miss the countryside, when I would go for a morning walk before starting work in the studio.  On sunny days I’d choose sit in the garden and sketch and finish all my hand stitching.  The fresh air and the relaxed lifestyle created a great atmosphere for me.

Now I’m back in ‘London Town’ I remember how great it is here too.  I’m south London through and through, there is an amazing mixture of everything you could ever want.  In my mind south London is quite small and homely. 

Sources of inspiration?

Wow, I’m not sure I can answer that with out being ultra vague, everything and anything inspires me at any given point.  I’m a great fan of scribbling things on random bits of paper, the back of a receipt, postcards, and torn pieces of packaging.  I find it easier to organise my thoughts into workbooks by collaging them together.

I have a great fascination with tradition, the history of the person, a song, a poem, a place or a thing and the observation of its evolution.  The details are what inspire me, I might love a song but it will be one line that draws me in.  I love flowers but the silhouette of a single petal will be the focus of my view. 

Concept, meaning that you want to communicate, if any.

I would like to take people back to the intricacies of craft and skilled workmanship.  I want my work to portray the time and care incorporated into my products, which will in turn compliment the true personality of each individual.  I hope to help people notice the interesting and the desirable, to discover the charm in items available outside of the dominant corporate retail industry and to connect, work and support the world’s designers and craftsmen as a community. 

Which materials do you prefer? Recycle or Re-used? Vintage or eco-friendly material? what's your choice?

I love fabrics natural fibres are what I love the most, I could list some of my favourites but the truth is they all excite me.  I like the history of garments and often take the time to deconstruct second hand pieces.  The remains of these garments are generally re used in my clothes and blankets.  I also work freelance in the fashion industry and collect as many remnants as I can, I figure waste not want not, It’s all useable. 

The creative process?

I don’t think it is a simple case of the materials I use, but it is the manipulation that makes what I do.  I believe it is one of the most important factors in anything you do because it is what makes your work personal, individual and essentially special.  The printing, twisting, washing, stitching, blending and distorting is how my work evolves the old and the new can all be used, I’ve become a bit of a hoarder over the years, if I like it and I can get my hands on it I will keep it until I can find a use for it.

What's the path to produce your creativity?

 A single item usually sparks the whole chain of events.  I start with something very simple.  It could be anything from a book to an item of clothing or even a scribble from a dream.  Once I have found my starting point, I trawl through my old notes, as there is usually some ref. point that links me to my new concept.  I‘ll have one image, which defines my colour story, and from here the project snowballs.  I’m continually researching throughout the design process and changing and developing the designs accordingly.

Nothing like comp shopping in the snow in the centre of paris, luckily the hotel was amazing a nice hot bath and the comfiest bed ever, might have to pop back in the spring to see how they are getting on. Also dropped off some bits and pieces into the new studio space just before my trip, in preparation for all of the work I'll have to do now I'm back. looks a bit like a dump site at the moment??

wow what a time I have had, I often forget how much I rely on technology. so when my logic board died and i was left without a computer things seemed to start falling apart, thankfully babble.coms article (which included my hand stitched spot and dot blanket) cheered my week to the maximum. thank you to all the ladies at Babble.com for such kind words and a lovely article, when I take my long weekend to Ireland I will follow all of your advise.

london for lunch, liverpool for sunset and sunrise on a sunday morning in a very deserted dublin, my well deserved break was quite eventful and now back to work, but on the plus side I am finally on the home straight and will start preparing for party season and fingers crossed the big move. really gutted..... last year I ordered some postcards and they were not printed very well, so the company gave me a credit which was good. the credit runs out soon so I thought I would get my order in before this happened (which is more then likely something I would do and miss out on the free stuff). So this evening I finished my postcard design and sent the art work off. My plan being to hedge my bets on getting a less than satisfactory product and instead of one image I tried three, but it's hard to hit the exact mark of £88.83. I have 3 postcard designs, 100 of each, then I thought it would be reasonable behavior to spend the next 3 hours trawling through their other products trying to find something I might like or be able to use. With about £10 to spend I could of just let it go, but finally opted for some stickers, done and done (or so one thought). At checkout they whacked on another massive discount, so now i'm hunting, i'm hunting i'm hunting and nothing. last chance harvey - 5 sheets of stickers standard delivery and tax brings me up to £84.37. this is where most normal people would stop but the obsessive maniac kicks in 'there just has to be something I could have to bring me closer to the mark, a useless pen, quite frankly a useless anything that I will never use will do?? An hour or so later I break free from my psychosis and accept defeat, only to realise (after I confirmed and could make no more changes) all I had to do was opt for a speedier delivery. Just goes to show you sometimes you just can't see the wood for the trees, that and a lot of greed will get you nothing.

busy busy no time to chat but a few notes on what has been and what is to come..... Tonia tried to rip me off with a cashiers check and got busted, what a waste of space these con artists are. I had some lovely clients on etsy, a big thank you to all the ladies for their kind words in the feedback section they have all been very kind.

fabric shopping on monday, bought a little to much but got an amazingly stupendous discount so I am not complaining, I am in dire need of a new wardrobe for the summer which is already upon us. I must must must start accounts before the end of the month and finally back in the country and on to some bbc radio7 catch up.

New bridesmaid commission at the moment means speed is of the essence, fitting next week with two of the ladies and still one to be measured.

It has been a delightful week the sun has been out and for april that it good news, fingers crossed it holds out for the entire summer. lots of activity through etsy, and a big thank you to all treasury lists, but most importantly Katy at winsome hollow who wrote a lovely feature about my work, onwards and upwards seems the objective of the day, back to the country to enjoy the sun and start sampling the new collection.....

I've checked the web site and will be off to paris on monday for some princesse tam tam shopping, things to remember before I go, flat shoes for all the walking, warm clothes as paris is cold this time of year, my little black book which is not so black (and not so very little either) but has all my notes from my last paris trip and additional places to go, which I have not done yet, and for good measure a mini bottle of champagne for the journey.
